Anti Ds-DNA Antibody test is a type of blood test that is done when an individual have a positive Anti-nuclear antibody test and showing symptoms of lupus such as fatigue, weakness, arthritis like pain, a red rash in the shape of a butterfly across nose and cheeks, and/or sensitivity to light. Alternatively, it is also done when an individual is tested positive with lupus.
Procedure of the Test
The test involves collection of blood sample for testing. The blood sample is collected through a needle though the veins present inside the forearm. The blood sample collected is added to vials containing antigens for further testing. Antibodies, and color modification techniques are used for testing and identifying foreign substances.

It may also be prescribed to monitor the progress of the diseases or monitor the treatment if being given.
This is test is done in individuals who are experiencing symptoms such as low grade fever, bone or joint pains, muscle pains, skin rashes, sensitivity to light, and hair and weight loss.
