Mitochondrial Antibodies [Serum] Test is a simple blood test that uses a blood sample to check for the presence or absence of Mitochondrial Antibodies in the blood. Mitochondrial Antibodies are the autoantibodies that consist of immunoglobulins formed against mitochondria, primarily the mitochondria in the liver cells.

The test does not require any specific preparations, but below mentioned are a few points that must be kept in mind prior to undergoing the Mitochondrial Antibodies [Serum] Test-
Overnight fasting is preferred.
It is advisable to take the tests early morning to get the accurate result.
A night of proper sleep is also advisable to get accurate results.
Use of alcohol and other addictives is prohibited for at least 24 hours before undergoing the test.
Do not smoke beforehand.
Intake of any medication should be discussed with the doctor before taking the test so as to avoid getting any misinterpreted results.
