Why get tested?
Blood typing test is done in the following conditions:
· To determine blood compatibility before a blood transfusion is carried out.
· To analyze the risk of Rh factor incompatibility between mother and fetus before and during pregnancy.
· At the time of registering as a blood or organ donor.
What it measures?
The test is used to detect the blood group of a person based on the presence of different antigens on the RBCs. There are three main antigens on the human red blood cells namely A, B and Rh. Depending upon the presence or absence of these antigens the blood group is classified into its various types.
