The test is conducted to detect the level of protein in the urine, which helps in detecting early kidney diseases or diagnose any kind of kidney damage. The test is a part of urinalysis.
Protein Urine 24- Hour helps screen conditions which can contribute to proteinuria.
If a trace of protein is detected in the urine, then a repeat urinalysis is performed along with certain blood tests to check the presence of protein and conclude the condition.
Semi-quantitative tests, for example, dipstick urine protein can also be used to check the presence of protein in the urine. Though, this test is a more formal way.
