Partial Splenectomy – This type of surgery is recommended when the spleen is not completely damaged. In this case, a partial part of the spleen is removed, and thus reduces the discomfort and pain experienced due to an enlarged spleen. The patients undergoing this technique are less vulnerable to infections.
Complete Splenectomy – This surgery is preferred when a ruptured spleen or an enlarged spleen needs to be removed. The approach used for performing Complete Splenectomy is an open surgery.
